Day 10 Off to see the big fella. Lapland here we come.

This morning the boys woke at 4.50 which ment as we were staying with Sampo, Sanna and family that I had to get up too so that the whole family was not disturbed.
Sylvi, sovi, Cody and Luke.

Today we head to Lapland to a City called Rovanemi. It is well known as i looked at my camera that the gps coordinates are

66*32'36"North and 25*50'46"East

Well what does that mean? Yes we are inside the arctic circle.

We were flying Norwegian airlines who in my opinion have slightly strange baggage laws.
20kgs hold luggage and 10 kgs in the cabin.

So we packed our pants and weighed and weighed and weighed to make sure that we did not get stung at the airport for any excess as they are a budget. Airline like Easyjet.

Anyway we were ok and got on the 50 minute flight.

When we landed it was dark hmmm yes it was 3pm and had been dark for sometime. And excitingly snowing.

The carousel at the airport

We were met by Virva's parents Leena and Pauli

The hire car is a Toyota Avensis and on the way out of the airport it miraculously stalled!! Bad planning resulted in us not having Leena and Paulis address. We got separated we parked at McDonald's car park and finally got in touch. We got their address asked a Taxi deliver how to get there, it was only 400meters away. We still struggled to find it. When we actually did find it Pauli was not there. Any way in the end we sorted it.

I think sat nav is mandatory in places that you do not know.

We then all got in our respective cars but this time I had Leena as my co pilot.

We were heading further north to the summer cottage ( there was nothing summery in the weather)

Driving in the snow was exciting I am ready for the World Rally Championship WRX for granny drivers!!!

We arrived at the beautiful cottage that Pauli designed and built himself!! Amazing. In two years and they lived 500kms away. GPS 66*39" North
