We arrived in Frankfurt and were confronted to line up of what must have been 400 people all wanting to go through security checks.
We have just come from the USA who have relaxed a little I must say, you can now leave your Laptop or other devices in the hand luggage, leave your belt on so your trousers don't fall down etc. Not in Germany all your electricals have to be in separate grey trays. I even got frisked I think the Guy fancied me, you know as you walk through the metal detector and you blatantly don't have any metal near or on you and he pushes a button on his watch to make the alarm go off. Ha Ha.
Then we walked about 3 kms to the Gate(it is a massive airport) all good to burn off the yankee trans fats or so we thought. Only to find that we had to board a bus which took us back the way we had come and further and dropped us in the middle of the airfield. It was Baltic (ok it is) It was cold, raining, 2 degrees and the kiwi kids were in shorts. I'm sure the people boarding the plane thought we were bad parents especially when I hit cody with a rolled up newspaper(Joke)
The 2 hour flight to Helsinki Finland was a breeze as yes the kids slept but boy were they shitty when we woke them up.
Being in the EU we picked up our bags and walked through the nothing to declare line and there she was Vireva, Annas host sister from her Rotary Exchange days.
We went back to hers and her 2 kids Eeli and Pihla were waiting for us.
Anna with Youlu Tortu (Yule Tarts)
Virva and her daughter Pihla.
We are really looking forward to our 8 remaining days.
